Reform Baltimore County

Those aren't words from a Republican. It's a quote from Democrat County Councilman Joseph Bartenfelder, remarking on the Baltimore County Council's passage of a weaker pension "reform" bill. The bill still allows longtime County Councilmembers, such as Democrat Vince Gardina, to walk away with hefty sweetheart pensions that are way beyond those of police officers, firefighters, and other county employees.
The pension story has dominated Baltimore County headlines over the past few months, but it's only the tip of the iceberg. It epitomizes a political culture, dominated by Democrats, where many elected officials seem more interested in advancement than the common good, and where Democrat development attorneys brazenly raise tens of thousands of dollars to try to control the next County Council.
